The Benefits and Effects of Complementary Therapies
Any complementary therapy will have a benefit on your mind, body and soul. It will relax and calm, reducing stress and anxiety. Massage will increase the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin, encouraging cell regeneration. Blood and lymph circulation is also increased, promoting the removal of toxins and waste products.
It is recommended that you have four weekly treatments to begin with, followed by monthly treatments to acheive the full benefit of relaxation and stress reduction.
Please note that complementary therapies are not a substitute for conventional medical advice and treatment. If you have any doubts about your health, please consult your GP.
Reflexology - Reflexology began in the ancient civilisations of China, Egypt, India and North America. Today it is one of the most popular alternative therapies in the UK.
Reflexology is performed by gently stimulating pressure points on the foot, which correspond to areas of the body, helping to relax and rejuvenate you. Imbalances throughout the body will be corrected and blocked energy will be released, easing tension, removing waste and toxins from the body and soothing inflammation and discomfort.
The benefits of Reflexology are reduced stress, deep relaxation, improved circulation, increased energy levels and the creation of a sense of well-being. It is recommended that you have a course of 4 weekly treatments in order to begin the healing process and then regular maintenance treatments.
Indian Head Massage - Indian Head Massage is a seated treatment, which can be carried out over clothes or unclothed, incorporating the upper back, arms, neck, shoulders, head and face. Using an aromatherapy oil blend, an Indian Head Massage will reduce stress, improve hair and scalp condition, increase energy levels, improve circulation and stimulate the circulatory and lymphatic systems to remove impurities and toxins. This treatment is particularly suitable if you work at a computer as the stresses put on the upper body can sometimes be quite painful.
Please note: this treatment is not suitable for anyone suffering from recent whiplash or other upper body injuries. Migraine suffers may benefit from this treatment, but not during or immediately after a migraine.
Aromatherapy Massage - An aromatherapy massage is a wonderful, gentle and relaxing full body treatment. Essential oils are gently massaged onto your skin, releasing stress and increasing your sense of well-being. Each aromatherapy oil has its own therapeutic properties and a blend will be created to suit your own needs. A facial massage can be included for an additional charge.
Hopi Ear Candles
non-invasive therapy may be effective in ear, nose and throat problems, helping with headaches, migraines, hay fever, sinusitis, tinitis and colds. It may help equalise ear pressure before or after
flying. A gentle lymph drainage facial massage is included to stimulate lymph flow and increase blood circulation.
The burning ear candle creates a light suction action and the movement of the flame causes a vibration in the candle to generate a massaging effect on the ear drum and auditary canal. You will feel warmth and hear a crackling sound during the treatment.
It is recommended that you have a treatment once a month. However, if you suffer from conditions such as sinusitis or tinitis, more frequent treatments can be carried out until the condition stablises. If you suffer pain/popping when flying, a treatment 1 week and another 2 days before depature may be beneficial.
Please note: this treatment is not suitable for anyone with a perforated eardrum, grommets, auricular cysts or tumours, diseases of the ear bones, thrombosis, high/low blood pressure or an embolism. Migraine suffers and sinusitis suffers should not have a treatment during or immediately after an attack.
Crystal Therapy - Crystal therapy can be traced back as far as Egyptian times. Each crystal is believed to
have its own therapeutic properties which can assist in rebalancing the body and the chakra system. During this treatment, you lie fully clothed on the couch and crystals are placed around and
on the body. Using crystals and a pendulum, blockages may be removed from the body and your chakras are cleansed and energised, resulting in a deep sense of relaxation and reducing stress levels.
Crystals are selected intuitively to suit your individual needs and regular treatments are recommended to aid your body's healing process and promote a sense of well-being. Different layouts may be
introduced as a treatment programme develops.
Angelite Back Treatment - Angelite brings inner peace, tranquility and calm. Lying fully clothed on the couch, a large Angelite crystal is gently massaged over the back to give a wonderful relaxing treatment. Strings of citrine are they placed along the spine to gently remove any pain. The treatment ends with a chakra balancing.
Manicure - Manicures improve the appearance and condition of the hands and nails by cleansing and nourishing them. Regular treatments will increase circulation to the cuticle and soften the skin, removing dead skin cells and dirt. Even gardeners will benefit from regular treatments, as softer skin without cracks around the fingers will collect less soil and be easier to clean afterwards. A gentle hand massage at the end will ease any tension and leave you feeling light and relaxed.
A standard manicure includes cuticle work, nail shaping, exfoliation, hand mask, massage and nail colour.
A luxury manicure includes a soothing parafin wax treatment instead of the hand mask, but does not include a nail colour.
The deluxe manicure is the same as the luxury manicure but includes a nail colour.
The luxury or deluxe manicures may be particularly beneficial if you have painful joints or very dry skin.
Pedicure - Our feet take a lot of stress and strain every day. We don't look after them properly, cramming them into inappropriate shoes so that they become hot and swollen, and then we expect them to look fantastic in strappy sandles. Regular pedicures will enhance the appearance of your feet all year round. Hard skin can be gently removed and the nails cleaned and clipped. A gentle foot massage will ease any tension and improve lymph and blood circulation, leaving a sensation of walking on air.
A standard pedicure includes a foot soak, cuticle work, nail shaping, exfoliation, foot mask, massage and nail colour.
A luxury pedicure includes a soothing parafin wax treatment instead of the foot mask, but does not include a nail colour.
The deluxe pedicure is the same as the luxury pedicure but includes a nail colour.

Facial - A facial treatment can be soothing and relaxing. The skin is cleansed to remove old make-up and general grime and then exfoliated to remove dead skin cells, leaving the skin soft and with a more even texture and appearance. A gentle massage will increase blood and lymph circulation, aiding the natural skin renewal process and removing impurities and toxins. A moisturising mask is applied to further improve the appearance of your skin.
A standard facial includes cleanse, tone, massage and moisturise.
A luxury facial includes cleanse, tone, exfoliate, massage and moisturise.
A deluxe facial includes cleanse, tone, exfoliate, massage, mask and moisturise.
A crystal facial is similar to the luxury facial but incorporates a massage using rose quartz and warm aromatherapy oils.
Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting - Enhance the appearance of your eyelashes and eyebrows by having them coloured with a gentle dye. Removes the need for mascara - particularly beneficial if you swim a lot or are going on holiday. (Please note, an allergy patch test will need to be carried out at least 24 hours prior to this treatment).
